Friendship

Among all the wonderful relationships "Friendship" is something so wonderful!!!

How beautiful life can be if people giving in to marriage can consider their better half "A True Friend" ..then you will never have the ego bursts and the silly fights ...as a true friend accepts you the way you are and accepts you with
your faults..

People with good friends are so blessed....
Rain or Shine , they are always there to hear you out and comfort you ..

Someone said it so well "Do not count your coins to know if you are rich
but count how many hands reach out to you to wipe your tears and you will
know if you are rich "

As Friends are like a precious treasure that anyone can ever have ...
Good friends make your life so easy even in pain !!

Lets make such valuable friends and feel rich !!!

Today's mass media is ruled by Politicians!!!

Newspapers, Television Channels, Magazines & Radio -wherever, whichever mode that reaches the mass has too many biased owners these days !

Giving it a thought ,when i thinking about all the different Radio channels- i realised that one of them belonged to the ruling party and there again i thought of newspapers ...more than 1 ....belongs again to the ruling party ....

They did not leave the television mode either ...the ruling party ,opposition party and many other political parties have their own television channels .... latest to the list is Mega TV .

Each one of them potray themselves as the good and are selective about showcasing the news from the other Political Party movements which has to be defenitely a negative potrayal .....

Don't we think its hightime the MASS MEDIA gets some unbiased people to manage them than the politicians dominating them and bringing people selective news about what is good in them and bad in their opposition leaders....

We, the people also should not encourage or support such biased news / opinions from these particular parties for good journalism to survive in this state.

A Mighty Heart

"A Mighty Heart " is a book written by Marianne Pearl .In her book ,she narrates the real and most horriblest incident of her life - Abduction of Daniel Pearl ( her journalist husband ) by the terrorists.

Though it was such a sad story , the way she has written and narrated the entire episode leaves you with so much hope in life .As when you finish reading the last page , you tell yourself if this woman could carry on in life inspite of what she has gone through , i better look at this world in a positive light

Am not a very voracious reader and pretty slow in reading books .But this book kept me going , in about 2 days i read the complete book as i fell in love with Marianne and adored her explicit way of expressing the little things that happened between them as a cute couple. And not to forget the way she is explaining the anxiety in finding her kidnapped husband at a place like karachi and trying to do justice to her unborn by experiencing the initial days of motherhood....

Initially, she speaks a lot about how she met danny - her loving husband , their lovable love and daring journalism ( they both loved their profession as much as they loved each other ) .Then the story moves on to exactly what happened in those few days of January 2002

I was glued to the book those three days of my life ,reading ....reading and reading ....sometimes with tears rolling down empathising with Marianne's emotions and sometimes fuming inside as to how cruel terrorism is......

This book has influenced me so much that i started reading more about terrorism , Journalism, Danny , Marianne, the hatred between Jews and Islamists & of course the Al-Qaeda .....

To Sum up- It is a beautiful story of a woman who won in the battle of terror and love .... she mentions that the people who executed Danny might think that they have won but actually they lost as they could not take away her love but only his body!

Danny , wherever you are ...my heart and this little article goes to you !!!!

"Those Little Fingers "

"Diwali " ......New clothes , diyas ,sweets , greetings from friends and family .....what more ...??? the essential in everyone's list "Fun with Fire "-Bursting Crackers !!!!

To me - Diwali reminds me of all these including those little fingers who make these explosives called "Crackers" .Even today , we read so much about children burning their self and soul in this making of crackers at sivakasi. Whether it is an NGO who is trying to popularise their beleifs in the name of Child Labour or it is the business minded people out there refusing to accept this , no one can deny that Child Labour at Sivakasi exists. If we need to see it , we have a choice to visit and visualise what is happening there....So many little fingers rolling papers, fixing fuses to the crackers ,and dyeing them - All for 30-40 rupees for those long 12hours. Most of these children are between 11 - 13 years of age !!!

Some may ask why should i bother about these little children and give up my fun and frolic of bursting crackers

My question to you is ....."A small little sacrifice (an act which actually leaves us with a momentary happiness) ..is that too big Vs the permanent damage that happens to these little children's lives?"

Let's think , our choice can make a difference to someone's life .......

I made a choice -10 years back and am glad that in these 10 years , there were many who shared the same interest & determined to give up buying crackers for Diwali and we stuck to it !!

And trust me,we have had more happier diwalis in these 10 years when we look back ........

Wish you all a Happy and Cracker-Free Diwali !!!

Mobile Phones !!!

Mobile Phones !!!!

Am sure there would be endless debates that would come up if we asked people to talk about "Mobile Invention - Blessing or Curse "

As most of the people consider it a blessing , partner, friend, asset and so on .It does make your life simple by being your alarm , a watch , a planner and most importantly a connect to someone else at anytime ..anyhwere..!

Yes..the same friend turns an enemy when you become obliged to pick up that call from your boss amidst your dinner or the interesting chat with family .The same blessing becomes a curse when your friends expect you to be available 24*7 just because you are available even when mobile ......

And constantly we are talking to acquaintances, colleagues, vendors friends ,relatives, customers and the list is endless.....

Sometimes the mobile nuisance is unbearable too, its irritataing when people keep checking their phones or texting someone when you are talking to them and i wonder how people talk so loud inside a hospital premises and even temples ..and the best of all ..Doctors answering phone calls amidst surgeries ? can u imagine that ?

Recently there has also been a lot of shocking news on how it affects the younger ones....i read about this teenager who was addicted to mobile and she had to be sent for rehabilitation to overcome her addiction ...

Am wondering if this might happen to me / you soon?

Let the Mobile boon remain so in our lives and not become a curse and addiction that will control us .......

There is no stopping a girl child !!!!

Children are vulnerable.

Thanks to the gender bias which prevades over many decades that any girl child is all the more vulnerable to human rights violations and discrimination.

A girl child goes through many a challenges right from her birth.

It is alarming to see that female infanticide still prevails over the 21st Century. There is a definite article on news papers everyday about minor rapes and sexual abuse.

Where are we heading in the days of Sunitha Williams and Barkha Dutts??
It's hightime we do some soul searching and look at our contribution to change the world !!

Infact , i witness the gender inequality in day today life. Even this morning i saw those 2 children who are siblings who walk past the same road which
is enroute to my office.I have seen them twice in the past few months walking to school on the same road. The elder one is a boy and younger one - a girl child . The boy wears his school shoes and the girl walks bare foot
If it had happened once or twice , i could have imagined that the girl had a wound in her foot ....

But this morning was the third time i saw them in the same way & told myself
"This can't be a wound but may be a way of life for many girl children "

Let us welcome the girl child in to the family with joy and glory
Give her hope ,courage and confidence at every stages of her life ...
Let her not realise that being a girl is going to make it difficult for acheiving her big dreams . As even today , most parents kill the dreams of a girl child
by lamenting how difficult it is for a girl
to be ambitious and successful
Let us forget the gender when it comes to love and care.

I hope to see the change and let it begin from me , you and everyone will follow !

Celebrity Obsession

We are obsessed with the celebrity news. These days anything and everything happening in their lives hit the headlines...

WOW......Who is to be blamed ....?Media or the Common Man?

Ask either of them & the"Blame Game" would continue.....

Media justify their act quoting that "Public wants to know this information and Public would blame the media for going crazy about celebrity life & the game continues in a vicious circle.

I call upon you ....both the Media Man and the Common Man

Lets really think.....

Are we really interested in knowing whether Aishwarya wants to have a baby ? Instead can we keep a check on how many babies are being found in the dustbin !!!

Are we really interested in knowing where Sanjay Dutt goes to offer his prayers after the bail?? Instead can we look at how many innocent people are still waiting to get a bail !!

Are we really interested in knowing whether Richard Gere was interested in Shilpa Shetty,Instead shall we take a reality check on how much we have done for the cause of AIDS PREVENTION & AWARENESS VS THEM ??

Let us think big and not be obsessed with CELEBRITY NEWS...instead LET US HAVE NEWS TO CELEBRATE !!!!

Love is in the air

I feel it in my finger....i feel it in my toes ...well...love is all around and so the feeling grows .... !!

This song was one of my all time favourites .Even during the blue days when i started to beleive there was no true love that actually exists in real life other than the filmy world...this song remained close to my heart .But am so glad that i could experience what is written in this song -Finally !!

Should i say WORTH THE WAIT !!

Love is such a beautiful feeling and it is at its the best when you just let it happen to you at a moment you least expect it :-)

You are in love and everything looks so beautiful and after a long time i realised i could appreciate love even more when i fell in love absolutely with myself !!!

When u love yourself the most ,it shows and the people around you tend to love you even more .And it is such a magical feeling when you find the love of your life and " RISE IN LOVE !"

Sweetheart Sister

When i sit back and think about the most beautiful things that
happened to me, but obvious my sister comes to my mind.

There are so many relationships in this world that we cherish
but most of it are not something that we always had or grew up with.

Growing up with a sister is such a special thing .....
ask those who yearn for one and only they would tell you what they crave
ask someone who have parted being the sisters of each other's heart
in to a marital bliss and they would tell you what they miss in life ...

Being a Sister is so very special!!
Sisterly bonds go beyond friendship and kinship
Sisters are always there for each other as a friend, guide
and even become a saviour for each other.

Is this why we fondly started calling the Nun & the Nurse "SISTER" ??

"Not without my daughter"

I was watching this movie "Not without my daughther " recently
This movie was so interesting that it kept me glued to the
television inpsite of the numerous commercial breaks inbetween.

It was such a beautiful movie narrating the life of an american wife
married to a muslim man in Iran.I would rather call it a movie depiciting
a life that was lost in the name of love .

As this woman trusts her husband so much and agrees to pay a visit
to her extended family of inlaws in Iran. She does this to please
her husband as she truly loves him. And all she gets in return was "SLAVERY"

Her husband shocks her by saying that they are not going to return to
America and he is going to have a job in Iran. She is shaken as she is unable
to imagine raising her daughter in a country which does not respect women
and gives them their freedom.
She foresees the 7 year love marriage falling apart
She is being forced to stay back inside the house and not even
allowed to answer her parent's calls.Added to that she is expected to wear the
burka and read the Holy Koran

My heart ached to see her struggles as it gets worse when she
is being told that any woman married to an Iranian automatically
becomes an Iranian and incase of a divorce the child rights goes
to the father .This leaves her in direstraits as she cannot go back to
America with her daughter without her husband's consent.

She determines to go back "NOT WITHOUT HER DAUGHTER"
and the struggle to get back to her home begins here.....!!

This movie is a must watch as it is inspired by the real life
of hundreds of women living in Iran who are still going through
this horrible life .

The movie instigates my thinking in so many ways..
about women and how they want to please the ones they love
about Iran a country which shocks me for its blinded faith
and still thinking why Islam does not give its women their due importance!!

Single Woman

Single !!!

I have used this word more frequently in the last few months ...!
As u know ,any woman in her late 20's has to answer some
mandatory questions ...the most common question would be
" Oh ..u are n't married ...single?? U have a boy friend??"

well....why aren't we able to relate to single women?
on the contrary ..we adore the bachelors ya single men
telling them "Lucky man ....you have made the right decision "

Being single at a considerable age .... i have faced many unpleasant situations
whether it be flirtatious behaviour from married men ya answering those
series of questions from people who are so much interested in my personal life..

tat keeps me wondering ...whats the plight of women who have
chosen to stay single for the rest of their lives??

Kudos to them ...!!

We may be nearing the 60th year of independance but
i wud say that still single women who want to be
independant do not enjoy their complete freedom in our country
