I was watching this movie "Not without my daughther " recently
This movie was so interesting that it kept me glued to the
television inpsite of the numerous commercial breaks inbetween.
It was such a beautiful movie narrating the life of an american wife
married to a muslim man in Iran.I would rather call it a movie depiciting
a life that was lost in the name of love .
As this woman trusts her husband so much and agrees to pay a visit
to her extended family of inlaws in Iran. She does this to please
her husband as she truly loves him. And all she gets in return was "SLAVERY"
Her husband shocks her by saying that they are not going to return to
America and he is going to have a job in Iran.She is shaken as she is unable
to imagine raising her daughter in a country which does not respect women
and gives them their freedom.
She foresees the 7 year love marriage falling apart
She is being forced to stay back inside the house and not even
allowed to answer her parent's calls.Added to that she is expected to wear the
burka and read the Holy Koran
My heart ached to see her struggles as it gets worse when she
is being told that any woman married to an Iranian automatically
becomes an Iranian and incase of a divorce the child rights goes
to the father .This leaves her in direstraits as she cannot go back to
America with her daughter without her husband's consent.
She determines to go back "NOT WITHOUT HER DAUGHTER"
and the struggle to get back to her home begins here.....!!
This movie is a must watch as it is inspired by the real life
of hundreds of women living in Iran who are still going through
this horrible life .
The movie instigates my thinking in so many ways..
about women and how they want to please the ones they love
about Iran a country which shocks me for its blinded faith
and still thinking why Islam does not give its women their due importance!!

It's quite disgusting ka... These fundamentalists are pulling the world to 1000 years back. All are idiots and they are still in animal state... Come on, we are in 21st century and woman are going to spaces and making records everywhere. Those people should change! And it's a thought provoking article ka... Keep it up!

For a long time i ve been wantin to reply to dis... Since dese days i ve no time constraints i shall educate u on ur misconception...!
First up comin to a conclusion of a religion or wat so ever b the case after watchin a movie is stupidity. Before u post n article, in dis case bout a fictitious movie, u need to traverse bout the history of the place n the rule which has been forced on the city by certain fanatics durin their respective regimes.
To ur bated curisioty n the sense of shock as u said towards the end on "why Islam does not give its women their due importance"- is again an unprepared home work. Probably for dis u need to learn more bout the religion urself by various sources than rather jus watch"NOT WITHOUT MY DAUGHTER". I would love to know the points against n islamic women's rights. Movin further on you jus cant allege anyone wit out a reason behind it n sadly the reason in ur case was the proof of a movie which leaves u to type n article... And m not shockd y islam has still been misunderstood by loadsa ppl as long as such articles prevail in the internet. You have always asked me on y do women in islam wear a veil??? Its been brought into the society for a long time for its reasons n no women hates wearin it. Trust me n they carry a sense of pride n consummate elegance under it.The VEIL is one of the most drastic restrictions which other ppl think is unfair.Such fallacious reasonings vitiate the whole meaning of veil system. The veil and the associated restrictions put on the women on this pretext, restrains them from participating fully in all walks of life; whereas God Almighty has not made any such restrictions.This was the society that had to be educated and trained, elevating it to a civilized level. On the other hand, in Medina, there was a big population of non-Muslims. These were trouble makers and used to tease women. When questioned they used to claim that had they known that these were Muslim women, they would not have teased them.The Holy Quran has not required anyone to cover the face nor the head/ hair. However, it has required decent clothing and the covering of the bosoms. Hence its more of a social security n morality of a women which is much better than the westernised culture of roamin around naked on streets.
As u ve see in the movie the child's rights goes in the hands of father, wel dere's no such rule imposed in the religion. The most import misconception which i wud love to elucidate in dis article is the "islamic terrorism" aspect being imposed on the common man's head thru the variegated modes. Wen a 'muslim' terrorist strikes a buildin or a city den the counteract which is done is to bomb the entire country of the atttacker by jus knowin that he resides there. The history speaks 4 itself as the poor condition in iraq n such countries still prevails. Even our very country din't take a step bk frm doin such a brutal sin. Gujarat- Where they say "there was this pregnant woman, i slit her open" on national television and get away with it....Now wat was the crime of that poor lady??? Being a muslim?? The image of the charred remains of n infant would choke anybody who saw it. Such criminals walk around the city on a daily basis without justice being imposed.
The crux of the solution, on the other hand, is ackowledgement that terrorism is born not frm religion but frm widespread injustice that is imposed upon people. No other group has been thru so much injustice as the Muslim community has n tat too concurrently.
I wont abstain frm sayin the infact on y always comes into the limelite of terrorism n cAuse of sufferin.. The reason behind dis being the rule of violent extremists such as Al-Qaeada n late saddam's regime which camouflage under the name of islam. On the other hand the powerful nations takin the pledge of releavin the plight of such ppl end up doin injustice to the same ppl far more worse than their dictator n once their goal is achieved a govn appointed by em sits on the bench shakin to the steps of "such powerful nations" for the very obvious reaSon-"OIL"!!!
In today's modern world, ppl still exist wr they look down at a muslim n give a smirk off their face jus coz his community was responsible for the innumerable blasts.
Unfortunately today violence is the antidote of economic progress. It can succeed at moments of high social stress or public rage, but that is a short term placebo for blood pressure.
So next time u write n article jus keep in mind of the research work which needs to go into it dependin on its importance. M not being rude by statin dis but jus enlightenin you n ur ignorance.
Next time u watch a fictitious or n unrealistic Hollywood movie, jus grab a pack of popcorn n don come to conclusion of things based on your figment of imagination.
