Navratri 2013
Navratri comes with its own charm of golu, kutcheris, temple visits and what not!! One of those times where i dont miss visiting the temple
I was delighted to see the Amman in various forms for all the 9 days and it becomes like a countdown for me to guess and wait to see what will be her form that day and trying to learn what forms those avatarams meant too
And interesting part are the golu visits where everyone tries to portray their favorite stories through their golu
I did learn a little about parts of ramanyana and wonder why no one chooses mahabaratam storied in golu displays
Taking Vihaan to the Anantha padmanabasamy temple was like a ritual in itself and bonus was when one trip his friend Kimaya joined in
And it was lovely to have some of my friends home for vathilai paaku custom
Navratri makes me feel like a traditional complete woman in this modern world where you dont often feel that way
Hope i enjoy the navratris to come and look forward to my very own Golu Navratri:-)

How can we even debate on this Juveline topic?
My angst increases as i keep reading every rape incident accused family raising a query that the so & so accused was a minor etc and hate to see the debates going on forums , papers and media on whether it is okay to reduce punishment for an accused on a rape incident citing he is a minor !!!
Ridiculous i say -just think if your daughter or wife was the victim -would you still accept this verdict? And what is worse that the minor had the B**** to rape and why not get punished - now why is the age becoming a factor to support them .If this is the case then every rape accused has a chance to go scott free as given how money can buy everything in this day -they can easily buy a age proof id to show they are a minor!
Minor or Major -Rape is the most cruel & heinous crime a man can commit and this deserves a capital punishment that should teach him a lesson of his life time for comitting the worst act of his life !!!
My heart goes out to Nirbhaya's parents who wear in tears to hear the verdict and will really pray that they fight until they get justice for Nirbhaya!

Being a woman!!!
Finally managed to write my blog post from my phone. whoa!! i wanted to write just about being a woman.
Though the 21st century woman has more freedom than her ancestors, still some
things have not changed for woman-not that am complaining about it-just concerned!
some instances that remind me of how woman are still not on equal path would be typically a marriage or work scenario. i find it funny that still people have that upperhand feeling ifthey are from boy's side. And if girl's side makes their presence felt ,they would be termed as dominating family. i still remember some folks trying to sound suprised that
there was no dowry or diamond demand for my wedding. And we are acting surprised and shocked for such normal situations -then is this about being equal? thank god for some sensible men in families that woman voices are heard but there are still woman who slog and clean toilets to earn their daily bread as husbands are busy drinking away to glory! Being a woman ia still not a blessing if you are born into a narrow minded or poor families where the family look at how much they have to spend on you and end of the day you wont earn back for them. But the good news is things are definitely changing but bad news is the pace and place at which it changes. On the contrary ,there are also woman who take the advancement and support system created to safeguard them for granted like the n number of false sexual harrasment /dowry harrasment accusations.Having gone through one such false allegation as a family myself - Where are the real womanly qualities of compassion ,care and tolerance ?? Did they just disappear in name of equality . I guess we need to draw a line between being equal and having the upper hand . If all women were to think of being the real Bharathi's Pudumai Pen begins in realizing your worth and creating equality around you for everyone including men and not in wearing miniskirts or sporting a bob cut and smoking away to show you have the freedom!
Hope the Woman in you flourish for the better !! Happy Woman's Day:-)

Those little surprises
When you are courting or dating , there are lot of surprises that come about in your relationships. Cute little notes , cards ,flowers and so on . Or a surprise visit by your fiancee by your office reception etc .
Being a die hard romantic,i only dreamt of experiencing these cute little things in real life . But life is not a movie where your partner is going to exactly replicate the hero kind of acts to woo you !! So have always kept my expectations low in terms of surprises and gifts. But when someone cares for you and love you a lot, they go out of the way to do the things that they have never done before!!! And that makes it extra special. This yellow roses have been extremely special to me as amidst a busy hectic day, i came to my room to be stumped seeing those cheerful and my favourite yellow roses on the office desk. And add to that a little more surprise as it said : To vijayameenakshi -From Guess who? Who else can it be than the Hubby who decided to floor me with an act which is not his kinds!! i was so floored and Happyyyyyyy:-))
Hoping 2013 is more of such moments !!
